Damit wird auch in Mavericks das Wegwerfen von Scannern nicht notwendig sein. I went to the sane site listed and found the latest files and downloaded them for os 10.10 and installed in the order listed, but after restarting I am not getting Mac Support told me my computer is "vintage"!!!

I tried almost everything and finally caved in and purchased VueScan. Given your info, it seems correct to assume that TWAINbridge.app is (or rather ‘was') an original Apple application… So it might just work for other scanners than just the older CANON
I tried something else I found in the other thread, deleting Canon's scanning software, and then deleted and reinstalled SANE, and now SANE is not showing up anywhere on my computer. I've always had the scanner connected to a USB hub along with a USB keyboard and mouse with no problems but recently it stopped working.
